With funding from Kaiser Permanente, WalkDenver has grown from a primarily volunteer-based organization to a professionally-staffed advocacy group. As the new Policy and Program Director, Jill Locantore will be supporting WalkDenver’s mission through education, research, and advocacy for policies and practices that lead to a more walkable Denver. Jill brings more than 10 years of experience in community planning, with a specific focus on sustainable land use and transportation. In her previous position as Program Director for the national nonprofit PlaceMatters, Jill led the development of the pedestrian data collection tool WALKscope, a joint project of WalkDenver and PlaceeMatters. Prior to PlaceMatters Jill served as Principal Planner for the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). Jill lives with her husband Frank and their two dogs in the City Park West neighborhood, where they enjoy a mostly car-free lifestyle.
