We are thankful for our volunteers!

We couldn’t do it without you!

WalkDenver’s efforts to make Denver the most walkable city in the nation depend on the passionate engagement of people like you, who love our city and want it to be a great place for everyone to live.

This year we are especially grateful to all the volunteers who signed up to be Sidewalk Champions for the Denver Deserves Sidewalks campaign, and who formed teams to compete in the WALKScope Data Challenge.

Thanks to your efforts, we collected nearly 3,000 signatures on our petition calling upon the City to assume responsibility for building and repairing sidewalks, and assessed the condition of more than 7,000 sidewalks and intersections throughout the City.

In response to this groundswell of community support, Mayor Hancock allocated $2.5 million for sidewalks in the 2017 budget, and a City Council Sidewalk Working Group is considering longer-term policy changes that could help ensure every neighborhood has the basic infrastructure Denver residents need to safely access daily destinations on foot.  We look forward to even further progress in 2017!

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving from the WalkDenver Team!
