We’ve been doing a lot of brainstorming with our Colfax friends and neighbors about how we can make the corridor more pedestrian, bicycle, and retail friendly.  Now we are ready to try out some creative redesigns for the Avenue, but we need your help to make it happen!

On August 16th WalkDenver and our partners at the West Colfax Business Improvement District, Radian, PlaceMatters, and Groundwork Denver will host a community celebration where you can test out temporary pedestrian crossing improvements at Utica, bike lanes on 14th and Tennyson, planted bulbouts, and an expanded sidewalk near the new Little Man Ice Cream.

Will you help make this project a reality?  We have until July 17th to raise the $11,000 we need for materials, event infrastructure, and other costs to implement the “pop-up” designs.

15.06.26 West Colfax Charrette 2The ideas we’ll be testing on Colfax come directly out of the work we’ve done over the past year to assess pedestrian and bicycle conditions along the Colfax Corridor; gather community input on the destinations that people would like to walk or bike to, and the routes they would like to walk or bike along; and explore the range of possible redesigns with Denver Public Works, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Regional Transportation District.

Please join us in this effort, which will demonstrate the type of solutions that can improve walking and biking throughout the Colfax corridor.

In addition to donating, you can be part of planning Re-imagine West Colfax! Join us to prepare on July 7th, 28th and August 11th, 6pm at 4500 W Colfax Ave.

P.S. You can learn more about the project and make a donation directly through our funding campaign page here!
