Call to artists for Little Saigon placemaking project

by Jessica Vargas on March 21, 2019

The “Friends of Little Saigon” initiative, led by WalkDenver and the West Denver Renaissance Collaborative, is focused on community beautification and stewardship of the pedestrian environment along Federal Boulevard between Alameda and Mississippi in Southwest Denver. As part of this initiative, we are planning a placemaking demonstration project focused on one block along the corridor, which will use low-cost materials to test out designs that could be installed more permanently in the future.

We are seeking an artist to assist with this demonstration project by designing and implementing a sidewalk mural, as well as complementary artistic elements that could be incorporated into banners, planters, or other aspects of the demonstration.  The art must reflect and celebrate the strong Vietnamese cultural heritage present along the Federal Boulevard corridor.
