And the winner is…

WinningBeeThanks to everyone who participated in our “Bees on the Boulevard” survey to help us select the bumblebee design that will grace pedestrian wayfinding signs in northwest Denver as part of our project, Great Paths: The Boulevard at Jefferson Park. We received a lot of great bee designs from local designers, but the clear winner was Cheryl Patrick’s design, shown above.  The bumblebee may also be incorporated into other pedestrian improvements under consideration, such as creatively painted crosswalks at the intersection of 25th and Eliot, and a sculpture at the intersection of 25th and Federal.

The purpose of the Great Paths project is to promote neighborhood amenities and walking in northwest Denver through pedestrian improvements. The project was made possible through acrowdfunding campaign on ioby (“in our back yard”), a Kickstarter-like platform focused on community projects.  Local donors contributed $4,828, which was matched with $4,000 from the TransitCenter.  WalkDenver’s partners on the project include the Federal Boulevard Business Improvement District andPartnership, Jefferson Park United NeighborsSloan’s Lake Citizens Group, andWalk2Connect.
